What Is CBG (Cannabigerol)?
Cannabigerol or CBG is one of over 100 different cannabinoids that can be found in the cannabis plant. CBG can interact with the human endocannabinoid system (ECS) just like other cannabinoids. CBD and THC have long been the most popular and well-known cannabinoids, but interest is growing for CBG. CBG is considered a precursor to other cannabinoids, because its acidic form breaks down into CBC, THC, CBD, and CBG.
What Benefits Can CBG Provide?
Research surrounding CBG is still in its infancy. This is partly because CBG is not as prominent in the hemp plant. It takes thousands of pounds of biomass to create small amounts of CBG isolate. Like CBD, research has found that CBG can also help to reduce inflammation and pain without the intoxicating effects THC can induce. More research is needed to fully understand the benefits CBG can provide.
How Is CBG Made?
CBG is isolated and extracted from the hemp plant to produce CBG oil. CBG exists in hemp plants in very low concentrations. It has to be extracted from young hemp plants, because they contain a higher concentration than mature hemp plants. CBG oil is then combined with a carrier oil to be added into various products.
Can CBG Make You High?
THC is one of the most well-known cannabinoids in existence. It also happens to be a psychoactive cannabinoid, which is why other cannabinoids are sometimes mistaken for being psychoactive as well. CBG is not psychoactive like THC. This means that CBG will not get you high.
What’s The Difference Between CBG & CBD?
As previously mentioned, research surrounding CBG is still limited compared to CBD. We know that CBD and CBG interact with the same cannabinoid receptors. CBD indirectly interacts with these receptors while CBG is believed to directly interact with cannabinoid receptors. CBG also appears to have anti-inflammatory effects just like CBD. Much research is still needed to be able to better differentiate CBG from CBD.
Is CBG Legal?
Industrial hemp was federally legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill. With this bill, hemp containing no more than .3% THC is considered legal. Any CBG product produced from industrial hemp is therefore considered completely legal. At Green Wellness Life, we only sell CBG products produced from industrial hemp. So, every product in our shop is legal and safe.
